He is survived by: his wife Laurie Wright; his children, Robbie John Smothers, Jr. and Angelica Stegens; his brother Jamie Smothers, Sr.; his uncle Tommy McGuire (Rita); his cousins, Joe Perry, Carol Perry and Randy Peacock; and his nieces and nephews, Richard Petree, Danny Petree (Bubba), Jamie Smothers, Jr., Stormy Smothers, Patricia Petree, Savannah Petree, Lacey Petree and Amanda Smothers.
