We are sad to announce that on October 21, 2018, at the age of 88, Phyllis Hill (Cisco, Texas), born in Buffalo, New York passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She is more precious than rubies." Phyllis Ann Leckie Hill was a Proverbs 31 Woman who peacefully left this earth on October 21, 2018 to go dance in heaven at the age of 88. She was born on October 12, 1930 in Buffalo, New York to Claude Mallam Leckie and Effie Doris Smith Leckie. Phyllis helped raise her siblings after her father died. Phyllis then worked as a ballet teacher and also worked in a Buffalo Hospital to put herself through school to become a registered nurse. She proudly served her country in the United States Army where she was a head nurse. On April 21, 1961 she married Robert Burette Hill of Cisco, Texas and they resided in both Austin and Portland, Texas until Robert passed away in 1984. While in Austin, Phyllis worked as an emergency room nurse at Brackenridge Hospital and in Portland, she worked at Gregory Portland Jr. High School and later at the Medical Arts Clinic until she retired and moved to Seguin, Texas. Survivors include her sisters, Sue Fleischauer and husband Alfred and Jane Golonka; sister-in-law, Angie Leckie; son, Robert Logan Hill and wife Marge and grandson Ryan Castoro and wife Nicole and great-grandson Tucker, son, Eric Hill and grandchildren Taylor, Jake and Abby, and son, Randy Hill; daughter, Kim Hill Burns and husband Clyde and grandchildren, Kathryn and James Burns; numerous nieces, nephews other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents and her brother, Ralph Leckie. She will be greatly missed but the family knows she had a relationship with her Savior Jesus. The family would like to thank the GRMC ICU team, Chaplain Tom Jones and Remarkable Health Care Staff for their loving care shown to Phyllis. Graveside services and interment will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco, Texas with Rev. Greg Muse officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 ST Jude PL, Memphis, TN, 38105-9959, where free medical care is provided for children with cancer.
