Patsy Virginia McGough Obituary
Patsy Virginia McGough, 89, of Cisco left her earthly body Thursday, December 26, 2024, in Rising Star, with her children by her side. She was born March 16, 1935 in Brownwood to Garland Guy and Irma (Crawford) Gage.
She attended 1st grade at Mountain Top School south of Cisco where she was the only first grader. She attended school in Cisco, Breckenridge, and Rising Star, 7 before graduating from Cisco High School in 1953.
Patsy married the love of her life, William Edward McGough, on October 29, 1953 in Eastland. They moved to Dallas in 1954, then returned to Eastland County in 1974. Together they raised two children, Beverly and Mike. He loved and cared for her for over 59 years until his passing in March 2013. She was never the same without him.
Patsy worked for IRS and retired as an Auditor. Through the years she also worked for Boss Manufacturing in Cisco, Dallas Police Department, Ross Bookkeeping in Dallas, and Texas Department of Health and Human Services in Eastland.
Patsy loved to cook and enjoyed cooking a special birthday supper for each member of her family. Every holiday was also a great excuse to have another big family meal. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling, fishing, garage sales, flea markets, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed McGough, her parents, Guy and Irma Gage, and an infant brother, Garland Robert Gage.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Beverly (Pete) Harrell of Cisco, her son, Mike (Myrna) McGough also of Cisco, her grandchildren, Jason (Meredith) Harrell of Hutto, Nathan Harrell of Abilene, Shawna (McGough) Dennis of Cisco, her bonus grandchildren Brian (Charla) Valenzuela of Jacksboro and Mark (Brittany) Valenzuela of Artesia, her great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Harrell, Deanna, Kayden and Jaxon Dennis, Landrie, Cannon, Laken, Bradley, and Brenton Valenzuela. She will also be greatly missed by her Sister-Cousin, Ramona Hopkins of Wichita, KS and other family members and friends.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at Rising Star Nursing Home for their excellent care of Patsy during her time there. They loved her and her dry sense of humor and many went out of their way to make her feel special. We are very grateful for this. Special thanks also to Tracie, Kellie, and Ashley with Solaris Hospice.
Visitation will be 5 - 7pm Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Kimbrough-Jacobs Funeral Home in Cisco. Funeral service will be Monday, December 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Kimbrough -Jacobs Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Dennis McClure and James Varner. Pallbearers will be Jason Harrell, Nathan Harrell, Brian Valenzuela, Mark Valenzuela, Ricky Patton, and Earnest Lobstein. Burial will be at Longbranch Cemetery following the service.
