Jack Dale Hysinger Obituary
Jack Dale Hysinger, aged 83, passed away at his home in Cisco, TX, on September 15, 2023. Funeral services will be held at the Cisco First Baptist Church on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at the Oltion Cemetery, Olton, TX, at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
A cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1939, in Olton, TX, Jack was the youngest of four children born to Howard Alvin Hysinger and Freddie Mae Rheinhart Hysinger.
Jack's early life was rooted in Olton, where he attended Olton ISD and graduated in the Class of 1958. He excelled in high school, actively participating in FFA, Football, and Basketball. His love for football led him to become a captain and earn numerous football honors, making him a proud member of the Olton Mustangs.
Following his graduation, Jack briefly attended Texas A&M University before enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving a tour in Korea. He returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Lorene Latrell Stewart, on January 1, 1961. They embarked on a life journey together. They moved to Ft. Sill, OK, where he completed 35 months in the army, then returned to Olton to farm. From Olton, they moved, first, to Canyon to begin school at West Texas State University. Moving to Irving and Bedford, he worked for Yellow Freight while he completed his degree at North Texas State University, graduating in December of 1972.
Wanting to move out of the big city and back to a small town, he moved to Muleshoe, TX, in 1973. There he worked as an accountant and farmer and devoted himself to his children's activities, coaching youth sports, and supporting school events trying never to miss an activity or ball game his children participated in. Jack and Latrell later moved from Muleshoe in 1985 to Plainview, back to Olton in 1994, and finally to Hale Center in 2007.
In 2017 Jack rekindled a friendship with Janice Ford Shepard. They were married on October 16, 2017, and Jack again relocated, moving to Cisco, TX. There he and Janice enjoyed the serene country life he cherished. Jack enjoyed playing games with his family and friends, especially if he could win.
Jack was an active member of the Cisco First Baptist Church. He was actively involved in the Masonic Lodge of Texas, where he was a fifty-year member and Past Master. Lodge affiliations included Olton, Muleshoe, Plainview, and Hale Center. He also served as a Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Jack is survived by his wife, Janice Ford Shepard Hysinger, and his children Kanetha Hysinger Foster and husband Ken of Farwell, TX; Monty Hysinger and his fiance, Tonya Burkhammer of Dumas, TX; Trent Hysinger and wife Jennifer of Lubbock, TX. He leaves behind six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. His stepchildren Kim and husband Matt Parris of Katy, TX, Kari and husband Pat Patranella of Lufkin, TX, Krista Shepard of Alvarado, TX, and Brent and wife Cami Shepard of Richmond, TX. Six step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Roper of Bowie, TX, sister-in-law Patsy Stewart of Augusta, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Latrell Hysinger, his parents Howard Alvin Hysinger and Freddie Mae Reinhart Hysinger, as well as two brothers, Joe Hysinger and Jim Hysinger.
