He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel John and Wilhelmine "Minnie" Christine Stroebel Wende; his children, Marjorie Talaga, Judy Simpson and Stan Wende; his granddaughter Christy Hughes; and his brother Charles Wende.

He is survived by: his wife Lola; his daughters, Pat Frost (Rudy) and Jo Hughes (Danny); and his grandchildren, Wende Frost, Lafe Frost, Robert Griggs, IV (Tina), Casey Griggs, Cassie Tibbetts (Chad), Stephen Hughes, Daniel Dean, Lonnie Wende and Amber Nelson (Andy). He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
