Del Brandt Obituary
Del Brandt, 86, passed away peacefully at home October 12, 2024. He was born July 19, 1938, in Farina, Illinois, the son of William and Nora (Pries) Brandt.
Del graduated from LaGrove High School in Farina, Illinois. Following graduation, he served with the United States Army from September 1959 to September 1961. While in the Army he was selected to be a Tomb Guard for the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, Virginia. After he served in the Army, he went to work for AT&T. He retired from AT&T after 38 years. On February 12, 1996 he married Jennie (Wright) Collins. They were married for 28 years.
Del opened Brandt's Plants and Trees in Cisco where he did what he loved most, gardening. Del grew beautiful ripe red tomatoes and multiple varieties of squash such as yellow squash and zucchini. If you couldn't find him in the garden at the store, you could find him in his greenhouse at home. In addition to him nurturing his gardening, he had a huge heart for his cats. He made sure they were well fed and cared for. Often taking them home from the shop to the house so they would be safe. He spent many hours on the back patio "enjoying a cold one" while a cat sat in his lap.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his Stepson Travis Damon Collins, brothers Wayne, Leroy, and Floyd, and sister Phyllis. Surviving in addition to his Wife, Jennie (Wright) Brandt, are his son, Gary Brandt of Illinois, stepdaughter, Lisa Glueck and her husband, Chuck, of Waller, grandson, Wesley Glueck and wife Jessica Glueck, Magnolia and grandson, Wade Glueck of Waller, great granddaughters Izabella Moran, Sterling Glueck, great grandsons Beckham Glueck and one coming in December (name not determined yet).
