Betty Joan Speegle Obituary
Betty J. Speegle of Cisco went to be with her Savior, on December 2, 2024, at the age of 87.
Betty was born December 7, 1936, in Putnam, Texas to Bayless Earl and Flora Velma (Clark) Rutherford. She graduated from Putnam High School in 1955. She married James Douglas (Doug) Speegle on 28 September 1957, in Cisco, Texas. Becoming part of an Air Force Family, Betty and her Family lived across the globe, living in Scotland, England, Japan and Italy before settling in Cisco upon Doug's retirement.
She has been a member of Mitchell Baptist Church in Scranton since 1981 where she served as a treasurer for many years. Betty worked 30 years for Cisco Jr College in the Student Union Building from 1982 until her retirement in 2012. She loved being around and a part of young people's lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Doug Speegle; her daughter Terri Lynn Auger; her parents, Earl and Flora Rutherford; six brothers, Ray, Lee, Charles, Cecil, Wesley and Clint Rutherford; and one sister, LaVerne Rutherford.
Survivors include her Son and Daughter in Law, Jim and Kay Speegle of Indiahoma, Oklahoma; Son and Daughter in Law, Gary and Kim Speegle of Scranton, Texas; grandchildren, Christi Fields and husband Zach Aron of Albuquerque, New Mexico; James Douglas (JD) Speegle III and wife Caitlin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Delia Anderson and husband Dusty of Chattanooga, Oklahoma; Deandra Martin and husband Seth of Camisano Vincentino, Italy; Jordan Speegle and wife Kaylen of Tolar, Texas; Jaime Lindsey and husband Bo of Belton, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; Brother in Law and wife, Jack and Rochelle Speegle of Cisco and Sister in Law and husband Linda and Jack Jenkins of Breckenridge.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Kimbrough-Jacobs Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, December 9, 2024, in the Kimbrough-Jacobs Chapel, with Butch Foster officiating. Burial will be in Scranton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jordan Speegle, Bo Lindsey, Robi Speegle, J.D. Speegle, Weston Godfrey, Zach Aron, Danny Speegle and Jeff "Brady" Alexander.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Betty's honor to the Cisco Senior Nutrition Program.
