He was predeceased by: his former wife Patricia Ann McClure; and his parents, Willie Jo and Clarence Adolph Bitter (Patricia Ann McClure). He is survived by: his wife Christine Mastin Bitter; his children, James Bitter (Linda), Elizabeth Heiligmann (Howard) and David Bitter (Sharon); his grandchildren, Kelsey Brewer (Jonathan) and Blake Bitter; and his stepchildren, Kristana Brown (Curtis), Hollis Russell (Bill) and John O'Brien (Mariana).
