He was predeceased by: his father John Laurence Kolander, Sr.; his stepfather Emmett Sherman; his mother Elizabeth Kolander Sherman; and his brothers, Gerald Wayne Kolander and John Laurence Kolander, Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Cleffie Kolander; his sons, Rowland Brett (Tresea) and Daniel Todd (Amanda); his grandchildren, Delaney, Clay Kolander, Kevin (Brooke Manuel) and Kim Manuel; his great grandchildren, Madison Ducote, Caroline Manuel and William Manuel; his sister Molly Sue Ridley; his sisters-in-law, Lillian Kolander and Connie Smith; and also, Laura and Terry Johnson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends.
