He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Carter Buckholtz and Novella Buckholtz Doggett; and his daughter Melissa Detrick. He is survived by: his son Jon Carter Buckholtz (Holly) of Conroe; his grandchildren, Samuel Detrick of Salina Kansas, Erin Harrelson (Braden) and Carter Buckholtz of Conroe; and his son-in-law Michael Detrick of Wichita Falls.

In lieu of flowers, any desired donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in his name and in his daughter's memory.
