He was predeceased by: his parents, L. D. Sowell, Jr. and Mamie Sowell; and his wives, Frances Thornton Sowell and June Bowyer Sowell of Chico. He is survived by: his brother Charles Sowell (Barbara); his sons, Terry Sowell (Debbie) and Danny Sowell (Judy); his stepsons, Bill Bowyer (Laina) and Doug Bowyer (Bunny); and his grandchildren, Erica Hood (Jordan), Kara Stine (David), Jake Sowell, Kacy Schneider (JJ), Clayton Sowell (Natalia), Deanna Sowell and Trenton Sowell. He is also survived by his 5 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
