He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Patsy Sue Ratcliffe; and his children, Robert Abbott Jr. of Houston, Joshua Abbott (Ashley) of Springtown, Texas, Susan McCann (Carl) of Fruitvale, Laura McCain (Rick) of Haslet and Kristen Abbott. He was also cherished by seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
