He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Martin Gerber and Mary Louise Parziale Gerber. He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Gerber of Lindale; his son Bernard Christopher "Brian" Gerber; his daughter-in-law Jenny of Charlotte; his daughter Betsy Lynn Hartong of Lindale; his sister Marlene; his brother-in-law Jim Benini of Kersey, Pennsylvania; and his grandchildren, Grayson Gerber, Lyndon Gerber, Amasa Hartong and Zimri Hartong. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
