He is survived by: his wife Lillie Stephens Avant; his children, Michael Avant, Durham Avant, John Jones and Brittany Jones (Philip Griffin); his grandchildren, Josh Avant, Alyssa Avant, Rhylan Bay and June Griffin; and his siblings, Sammye Avant Walker, Cindy (James Tarbutton) and Joe D. Avant. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
