It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gwen Kovalcik of Channelview, Texas, born in Houston, Texas, who passed away on November 8, 2020, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Wildor Barnes Howell and Cleo Dean Howell; her husband Leon Kovalcik; and her brothers, Gary Griggs, Tommy Griggs and Larry Howell.
She is survived by: her sisters, Sheila Dumas and Dixie Griggs; her children, Robert Jones, Allen Jones, Lisa Favalora, Kellie Royal, Mitch Kovalcik, Mike Kovalcik, Donna Gassiot and David Kovalcik; and her grandchildren, Aaron, Austin, Bailey, Bradley, Brittany, Christopher, Devin, Hailey, Kaitlin, Jamie, Josh, Justin, Leslie, Shane, Travis and Zach. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Gwen requested donations be made towards the research, care and cure for Rett Syndrome, in honor of her great-niece, Ava Martin (http://www.rettsyndrome.org).
