He was predeceased by: his mother Retha Els (Johnson); and his brother Kenneth Els. He is survived by: his wife Katie Els of Centerville; his children, Jennifer Gilliam (Els) of Georgetown, Karen Ivey (Derek) of Cypress, Carl Els, Jr. of Crosby and Ryan Els (Catlin) of Centerville; his grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey, Hudson Gilliam, Kayden Ivey, Harley and Harper Els; his siblings, Donna Theis (David) of Mission, John Els (Rhonda) of Livingston, Randy Els (Lisa) of Katy and Anna Bierman (Billy) of Magnolia; his siblings-in-law, Jeanene and Thomas Edwards of Centerville; and his cousin Beverly Phillips of New Ulm.
