He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis Marvin "Cooter" Sowell and Lessie Beatrice Moore Sowell; his son Randy Ray Sowell; and his brother Richard Lee Sowell. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Fay Brittain Sowell; his children, Sandy Renea Sowell Mitchell (Curtis) of Mauriceville, Michael Shane Sowell (Pam) of Center and Lucas Cade Sowell of Nacogdoches, Texas; his grandchildren, Tina Sowell Smith (Joshua), Tommy Byers, Bradley Byers, Michael Sowell, Ashley Sowell, Jake Mitchell, Kalie Richard, Shae Mitchell, Jadyn Prosser and Cierra Prosser; his daughter-in-law Cryssy Williams; his stepson John Howard Prosser; his siblings, Sharon Renea Sowell Barnett, Barbara Marie Sowell Emmerson, Johnny Mae Sowell, Jessie Bosquez and Frank Moris Bennett Phillips; and his siblings-in-law, John Brittain (Ann) of Lufkin and Gayla Sowell of Ore City. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
