He is survived by: his wife Rowena Tyler of Center, TX; his sons, John Halstead Jr. (Karen) of Shelbyville, TX and Hugh Halstead of Center, TX; his grandchildren, Donald Lee (Jessica), John Halstead III (Samantha), Mianna Adair and Christopher Halstead; his great grandchildren, Shayanne Lee, Erica Lee, Alyssa Lee, Kylie Lee, Ryan Halstead, Maddie Halstead, Chloe Nix, Logan Nix and Devon LeBlanc (Makayla); and his grandchild Auburn LeBlanc. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
