He was predeceased by: his parents, Fritz Schmidtzinsky and Irene Lowrance; his brother Lester P.; and also Larry D. Schmidtzinsky. He is survived by: his siblings, Phyllis Williams (Willie) of Center Point, Mickey Wofford of Aransas Pass, Bonnie Lockridge (Bill) of Kerrville and James Lowrance Jr.; his wife Kathy of Ingram; and also Donna Leismann of Comfort. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
