He is survived by: his wife Martina Matthews; his daughters, Kristina Matthews and Christina Coombes (Tim Coombes); his grandson Kenneth Gilliam; his daughter Jagger Coombes; his granddaughter Erika Gilliam; his daughter Chelsi Clements; his great grandchild Bailey Gilliam; his stepchildren, Antonio Ruiz and Elizabeth Musquiz; his stepgrandchildren, Sara Musquiz, Mark Musquiz, Michael, Victoria Munoz, Marisa and Ava; and his siblings, Hellen Ray, Mary Orr (Sissy), Jearl Matthews and Sammy Matthews (Terry Matthews).

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in Karlton's name to Galilean Baptist Church.
