He was predeceased by: his parents, John V. Garner and VeElla Garner; his sister Malvia Garner Albert; his daughters, Debra G. Angrum and Nedra J. Garner; and his grandson Brian Keith Angrum.

He is survived by: his wife Frances K. Garner; his brother John V. Garner Jr. of Dallas; and his daughters, Wanda "Cookie" Samuels and Beverly Renee Crathers of Red Oak. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
