He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Edwards Gardner and Maggie Lee Bynum Barnes; his wife Lois Cross Gardner; his children, Tavares Gardner (Stephanie) and Chelsea Gardner; his goddaughters, Chatonya Tatum and Tiffany Ingram; his grandchildren, Caleb, Christen Gardner and Chace Tarver; his siblings, Linda Marchell, Paula Adams (Charlie), Bobby Barnes, Lloyd Barnes, Kenneth Barnes, Wilfred Barnes (Marilyn), Harry King and Emanuel Bennett (Cynthia); his uncle Reverend L. L. Gardner (Betty Jo); and his sister Janis Daniels. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many good friends.
