He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Oscar McDonald and Virgie McDonald; his wife Annie L. McDonald; his siblings, Leroy McDonald, Richard McDonald, Thaddeus McDonald, Curtis McDonald, Lester Alridge, Ethel Jackson, Maude Collins and Cora Willie Aldridge; and his daughters, Brenda Jean Williams, Belinda Davis (Samuel Davis), Vanessa McDonald, Linda McDonald and Felicia McDonald. He was also cherished by six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren (one on the way), and a host of nieces, cousins, and nephews.
