He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Lee Oakes, Jr. and Lavern Lindy Bender Oakes; and his grandparents, Harold, Lena Bender, Roy and Minnie Oakes.
He is survived by: his wife Dottie Perry Oakes; and his children, Soneen Marie Oakes Macfarlane (William Macfarlane) and Conner Macfarlane.
