He was predeceased by: his parents, Tracy Devaughn York and Ruby Elanora Rennix York. He is survived by: his wife Margie York of Castroville; his daughter Patricia Botello (Rene Gonzalez) of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Pamela Goble (Coty), Joshua Sepulveda (Gabriella), Ian Gonzalez (Cheyenne) and Aaron Gonzalez; his great grandchildren, Ilya Gonzalez, Harlow Salazar-Sepulveda and Archer Gonzalez; his sister Susan Leasure; and his niece Kristen Michael (Greg).

Memorials may be made in Joseph's memory to the San Antonio Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
