He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Hecker and Emma Theresa Leibmann Hecker; his children, Donna Hecker, George Hecker, Jr. and John "Jack" Hecker; and his siblings, Joseph Hecker and Kathleen Faucher.
He is survived by : his wife Evelyn Hecker of Castroville; his children, Mary Barnhart (Gerry) of Schaghticoke, Patricia Hecker of Houston, Michael Hecker (Christine) of Boerne, Tresa Shalit (Andrew) of Castroville, Rita Anderson (Scott) of Austin, Ed Hecker (Norma) of Castroville and Tom Hecker (Theresa) of Castroville; and his daughter-in-law Kadi Hecker of Castroville. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
