With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mauzell Hicks of Carthage, Texas, who passed away on November 18, 2021 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Hicks and Elmaree Thompson Hicks; her husband Johnny Ray Garrett; her son Shannon Garrett; her siblings, Betty Jean Hicks, Nancy Lee Hicks, Mary Hicks, Laura Lee Hicks and William Hicks; her grandchildren, Rochard, Jamar Garrett and Jay Thompson; and her great grandchild Travian Clayborne.
She is survived by: her children, Rowena Garrett (Rockland Faggan) of Carthage, Lannon Garrett (Sandra) of Lakeport and Lawrence Garrett of Carthage; her siblings, Annie "Mookie" Jenkins (Herman) of Glenn Heights and Willie Hicks of Dallas; and her grandchildren, Ebony Cartwright, Denzel Owens, Dikesha Ewins, Derrick Owens (Julie), Mishand Austin, Sawaun Austin, Carmen Clayton, Marchea Garrett, Jamarius Garrett, Jannarrow Taylor, Shendra Slade, Cleonda Allison, Roshabrius Garrett, Shmar Garrett, Braleigh Polk and Shevonda Jones. She is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; three Aunts; and a host of relatives and friends.
