We bid farewell to Ella Vernon Sherley of Carthage, Texas, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on January 19, 2025 at the age of 92. Ella Vernon touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde Vernon and Angeline Vernon; her husband Don Sherley; her siblings, Melba Thomas and Armand Vernon; her grandsons, Steven Sherley and Michael Sherley; and her great grandchild J. J. Ortigo.
She is survived by: her children, Deryl Sherley, Clayton Sherley (Suzanne Hackler), Cheryl Sherley and Angela Waites (David); and her grandchildren, Tammy Peel (Justin), Sarah Vickers (Wyatt), John Kremling, Shelia Hartley (Brian), Gwen Waites, Chris Waites and Hope Ortigo (John). She is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Southside Baptist Church (1501 W Sabine St, Carthage, TX 75633).
