He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl Roethke and Elfriede Roloff Roethke; his sisters, Evelyn Elmer (Curtis) and Betty Kaebisch (Jim); his brother-in-law Ken Spangler; his parents-in-law, Neil and Willie Mae Rinkle; his brother W. F. "Bill"; and his sister-in-law Lois Rinkle.
He is survived by: his wife Sible Roethke of Carthage; his siblings, Helen Spangler of Arizona and Alfred Roethke of Wisconsin; and his adoptive daughter Rolonda Elms Carrington (Nathan Carrington) of Amarillo.
