He was predeceased by: his parents, James Whitton and Zethel Whitton. He is survived by: his sons, Roger and David Whitton; his sisters, Eleta Baker, Shirley Cockerham, Joyce Bryan and Ava Claire Crawford; his wife Shirley Whitton; his children, Tim Whitton (Debbie) and Debbie Crawford (Ted); and his sister Joan Linebarger (Jack). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.
