Gladys lived a full and joyful life, filled with the love from her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Morea and Oscar Johnson, her infant daughter Patricia Evette, her son Carlton, Jr, and her Sister Doris Reed. Left to carry on her legacy of love is her husband of 61 years Carlton Reed, Sr, her son and daughter-in-love Robert Fred Reed and Sabrina; her son and daughter-in-love Anthony Fitzgerald Reed and Audrey; her daughter in love Andrien Reed; aunt Mildred West; siblings Mae Ida Johnson, Lola Madkins, Lenora Dixon, Faye and husband Dean Lewis, Edward and wife Diann Watson; her grandchildren Carlos Washington, Jennifer and husband Matthew Heartfield, Ashley and husband Tyrone Nichols, Brittnee and husband Jason Coronado, Micah Marshall, Lauren Hammond, Cyan Reed, Alexandria Reed, and Anaiya Reed; great-grandchildren Haven, Jason, Juliana, Dylan, Alycia, Laundyn, Layah, Robert, Zoe, Logann, and Madeleine; and extended family and friends.
Gladys was a beautiful example of how to live a life being God's hands and feet. She continuously helped where she could, and often aided others in their medical care in her work as a home health care worker. Gladys inspired many who celebrated her delicious cooking and baking, her flair for fashion and home decorating, and her sewing and gardening abilities.
She was an avid reader, undoubtedly due to her starting school when she was just 3 years old! Gladys enjoyed the travels she experienced with family and friends, from exploring small Texas towns antiquing; a Bahamian cruise; New York to catch a Broadway play; and even a tour of England. But her heart and joyful laughter was brightest to all whenever she was with her close knit family, especially with her sisters and brother, her nieces and nephews, her children and grandchildren; be it at reunions, family events, or holiday meals… and always there teasing her husband Carlton for eating too much!
The Reed family extends special thanks to everyone who has ever spoken a kind word or done a sweet deed for our Beloved Gladys Morea Reed. Gladys lived a life solid in her faith in God.
