He was predeceased by: his parents, George Walter and Mary Margaret Gross (Lovett); his daughter-in-law Amanda Hodges; his brother-in-law Terry Hutcherson; and his father-in-law James Voyles.

He is survived by: his wife Becky Gross; his children, Heather Gruner (Brad), Margaret Biggs (Tyler), Chad Hodges (Tonya), Daniel Gross (Misty) and Brooks Hodges (Elaine); his brother George B. Gross (Debra); and his mother-in-law Esta Voyles. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
