He was predeceased by: his parents, Squire Colbert and Mina Eltice Walls Chappell; his wife Linda Jean Ellis; his son Steven; and his siblings, Wayland, Collis and Malloy Nagy.
He is survived by: his brothers, Randall Chappell (Sue Ann), James Chappell and Doug Chappell (Linda); his brother-in-law Louis Sternberg (Deanna); and his grandchildren, Ryan Schneider, Emily, Reagan Schneider (Shannon), Amber Galvan (Hector), Ashley Timmerman (Jason), Austin Chappell (Victoria), Chelsea McClendon (Woody), Tanner Hoffmann, Logan Chappell (Ashlea), Avery Chappell, Connor Chappell, Sierra Ramsey, Kris Saladino and John Cella (Estefania).
