He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Hansmann and Elizabeth Rahe Hansmann; his wife Dorothy Penshorn Hansmann; and his sisters, Laura Middleton, Melba Weyel and Darleen Rothe.

He is survived by: his son Troy Penshorn (Anastasia) of El Dorado, AR; and his siblings, Alex Hansmann (Veronica) of San Antonio, TX and Peggy Pape (Dalton) of Wimberley, TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
