He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford P. Patterson and Willie Mae Coleman Patterson; and his siblings, Kenneth Patterson, Oneta Stone and Jimmie Roden.

He is survived by: his stepchildren, Brandon Cole, Kevin McMillan and Tonya Uzzell; and his brothers, L. J. Patterson of Lake Fork, Richard Patterson of Sulphur Springs and Ronald Patterson of Brashear.
