He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Jacob Burnett and Flonnie Dodson (Weems); his wife Nell Hunt Dodson of Cameron; his sister Sue Pagel of Temple; his children, Karen Dodson Gerdes of Santa Fe, TX, John Raymond Dodson (Dee Ann) of San Antonio, Kathleen Hunt Clark of Nevada and Margaret Hunt Worsham (Stephen) of Magnolia; his former wife Aileen Phipps Dodson; and his uncle Neal (John Neal). He was also cherished by 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
