He is survived by: his children, James Shields, Jr. of Cameron, Gale Jones of Tenn, Tammy Shields of Cameron and Tawajunia of Cameron; and his siblings, Wayne Shields of Tenn, Carolyn Jordan, Margaret Taylor of Tenn and Peggy Sain of Indiana. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home (2800 N Travis Ave, Cameron, TX 76520). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery (11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542).
