He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Thomas and Creolla Nelson Thomas; and his siblings, Bonita Edwards and Alvin Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Linda Wright-Thomas; his children, Jonathan Price (Shondell), Naomi Rylander, James Rylander (Tiwanna) and Edward Rylander; his grandchildren, Keara, Dante', Cameron, Nicollette, Katricia, Edward Jr., James Jr., Brittney and Tiara; and his siblings, Danny Thomas, Richard Thomas (Rene), Exavier Thomas and Annette Thomas. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones, and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church (3826 Wheeler Ave, Houston, TX 77004). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
