Walter James Hermis Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Walter James Hermis of Call, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 16, 2025 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Hermis and Martha Hermis; his daughter Diane Goldberg (Ross); his grandchild Devan Goldberg; and his siblings-in-law, Carmen Rodriguez, Emilio Menchaca Jr. and Leonard Sumbera.
He is survived by: his wife Josephine "Josie" Hermis; his children, Kevelyn Merritt, Laura Adams, Walter Hermis Jr. (Tara), Fred Hermis (Lisa), Angie Taggart (John), Michael Acosta (Clifford Mertink) and Richard Acosta; his grandchildren, Dylan Goldberg, Paul Hermis, Dereck Merritt, Drew Whisenhunt, Maxwell Hermis, Benton Hermis (Leigh), Annabelle Kasowski (Jake), Ryan Hermis (Diana), Nicholas Hermis (Jamie), Ashley Hermis, Allie Litofsky (Josh), Mattie Taggart and Emmie Howard (Travis); his siblings, Gracie Sumbera and Harvey Hermis (Evelyn); and his brother-in-law Roland Menchaca (Marcie). He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home (701 S Main St, Schulenburg, TX 78956). A rosary was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (7026 FM957, Schulenburg, TX 78956).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Schulenburg, Sacred Heart Catholic School in Hallettsville, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John, St. Jude, or a charity of your choice.
