He was predeceased by: his parents, Thurmon Munson Tolbert, Sr. and Viola McCowan Tolbert; his wife Elva Tolbert; and his nephew Norris Dillard, Jr.. He is survived by: his son Thurmon Munson Tolbert, III (Mary); his siblings, Cora Dawson (late Pastor Marvin Dawson), Velma Dillard (Norris) and Larry Tolbert (Liz); and his nieces, Carol Dawson, Detoma Dawson, Norlisa Dillard-Banks (Odie), Nicole Dillard and Dayna Tolbert Hennigan (Roland).
