He was predeceased by: his parents, Pedro Avila and Carmen Mendez; his grandson Juan Carlos Olvera Avila; and his siblings, Evodio Avila, Isidro Avila and Hermelinda Avila.
He is survived by: his wife Maria Guadalupe Avila Ramirez; his children, Maria Isabel Olvera (Juan), Noemi Pena (Juan Felipe), Miguel Angel Avila (Gloria Idalia), Norma Avila (Richard Lee) and Noelia Martinez (Jose Raul); and his siblings, Antonio Avila, Jesus Avila, Genaro Avila, Apolonia Avila, Francisca Avila, San Juana Avila and Carmen Avila. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
