She was predeceased by: her parents, Ethel Doyle and Jim; and her siblings, Sarah (Robert Lee), Phillips, Better McGrews (James), Eugene, Jimmy and Percy Simpkins.

She is survived by: her nieces and nephews, Katherine Dart, Jeanette Ratcliff, Earnest "Skeeter" Rushing and Claude Derrick Phillips; her sons, Mozell Darthard (Felicia), Johnny Clay, Sr. and Floyd Clay, Sr.; and her niece Peggy Wiley. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
