He was predeceased by: his wife Mary M. Davidson of Panama City. He is survived by: his children, Roberta, Marcy, Sam, Robert Jr. and Dan; his sister Reba; and his cousin Wardell. He is also survived by grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren with an additional two great-grandchildren.
