He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Butler and Edra Butler; his wife Mary Jo Butler; his granddaughter Taylor Lynn Colbert; his brother-in-law David McGowen; and his niece Leslie McGowen Heskett.
He is survived by: his children, Jody Butler (Tonya Stevenson-Blackwell) and Jojo Dowden (Bryant) of Burleson, Texas; his siblings, Kenny Butler of Cross Plains, Texas and Sara McGowen Poynor (Grant); his sister-in-law Judy Butler of Inez, Texas; his grandchildren, Kalli Colbert of Lubbock, Cordell Butler of Tucson and Audrey Butler of Springfield, Illinois; and his great grandchild Hadlee Kay Colbert. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
