He is survived by: his wife Brenda Hope Carroll; his children, Marsha Mavis Spence (Judy), James Wayne Spence, Jr. (Julie) and Brian Scott Spence (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Amber (Clinton), Megan (Taylor), Branden (Elizabeth), Connor, Ethan and Olivia; his great grandchildren, Joy, Ellie, Addison and Bryce; and his sister Brenda Hadon.
