He was predeceased by: his parents, Cary Overton Sr. and Hazel Elizabeth Newby; and his wife Beatrice. He is survived by: his children, Gary Newby (Judy) of Clinton, Arkansas, Joyce Strickland (Randy) of Burleson and Darla Stubblefield (Mark) of Burleson; his grandchildren, Samantha, Alan, Andy, Gary, Carrie, Kevin and Amanda; and his great grandchildren, Taylor, Zach, Cassie, Cole, Lexi, Stella, Myla, Hudson, Kinley, Drew, Seth and Ezra. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
