He was predeceased by: his parents, Hillis Popejoy and Beulah Popejoy (Pharris); his son Jeffrey Popejoy; his stepson Dennis Cotton; and his siblings, Franklin, Jimmie, Beatrice Langston and Virginia Robinson.
He is survived by: his wife Elwanda Popejoy; his daughter Ivy Poe; his son-in-law Michael Poe; his stepson David Cotton; his daughter-in-law Linda Cotton; and his brother Johnny Popejoy. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
