He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Leonard Jona Burns (Pedro) and Flora-Mae Wright (Burns); his wife Tanya Burns; his children, Dawson Burns (Rebecca) of Tarzan, TX, Kandace Burns of Burkburnett, TX and Whitney Burns-Harlan (Jered Harlan) of Devol, OK.; his grandchildren, Katherine, Madeline, Elizabeth Burns of Tarzan, TX., Charley Ann, Blakeley, Stateley and Steeley Harlan of Devol, OK.; and his sister Geraldine Baker of Florence, CO.. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
