He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Tarver and Dora Tarver; his son-in-law Chris Picard; and his brothers, W. R. Whitehead and Elton Whitehead.
He is survived by: his children, Opey Tarver, Brenda of Georgia and Pam Picard of Buna; his siblings, J. T. Tarver and Willie Mae Fowler; and his grandchildren, Nick Tarver, Summer Harwell and Chris Prewitt. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
