He was predeceased by: his parents, Overton Harris Nichols and Bernice Polk Nichols; and his brothers, Bobby Nichols and Edwin Nichols. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Hornsey Nichols; his children, Sammy Lee Nichols II of Coppell and Shawn Lynn Nichols of Temple; his grandchildren, Grace Elaine Nichols and Sammy Lee Nichols III of Denton; his sister Betty Traylor (Jerry); and his siblings-in-law, Beverly Arldt (Herman) and Randy Hornsey. He is also survived by ses numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Southside Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society, or the Mid-Tex Federal Credit Union Scholarship Fund.
